James
E. Salter, M.B.A.
I was born in San Diego, California.
I come from a family of six children. Although my parents
did not have a lot of financial resources, they gave us both
direction and focus. From an early age, I was an active member
of the Boy Scouts of America. Later in high school, I excelled
in both academics and athletics. Upon finishing high school,
I won a half tuition athletic/academic scholarship to Dominican
University of California.
Leaving home to attend college represented
a major transition in my life. I soon learned academic discipline
as well as how to interact in a different social environment.
As an undergraduate I maintained the highest grade point average
and learned discipline, team work and organizational skills.
At the end of my junior year, I spent the summer abroard in
Buenos Aires, Argentina where I improved my skills speaking
Spanish. This trip represented the beginning of a long interest
in world travel.
Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude in Business
Administration, I decided to pursue an MBA in Global Strategic
Management from Dominican University. I received a full tuition
academic scholarship. During my MBA I took courses which improved
my skills in marketing, project management, and communications.
I also took a position with Springboard Consulting, Inc as
financial manager of a small company where I have worked ever
since.
Since receiving my MBA I have continued
to work as financial manager for the same small company. I
have traveled the world as well visiting Europe, Asia, and
Africa. I have developed an interest in photography, geography,
and adventure sports as a result of my travels. I spent six
months in Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, and Brazil studying Spanish
and Portuguese. I have developed the ability to adapt to many
different situations as well as be exposed to a wide variety
of cultures. During this time I decided to pursue my creative
side and change careers focusing on marketing and project
management. |
